Questions about Eknas
Straight answers about points, rewards, pricing, privacy and the app, for customers and for shop owners. Each question has its own link you can share.
Customers
What is Eknas?
Eknas is a loyalty program for cafés, restaurants, bakeries, salons, gyms and shops in Nepal. Customers earn 1 point for every rupee they spend and turn points into rewards the shop chooses, like a free momo plate or a haircut. Shops get a digital loyalty card, a counter app, offers and a public page.
How do loyalty points work on Eknas?
You earn 1 point for every rupee on your bill, or 2 points on a shop's double-points days. Points collect on that shop's card. When they reach a reward's level, the reward is ready in your app, and points above the shop's goal carry over to your next round, so nothing you earn is wasted.
How do I redeem a reward?
Open the reward in your app and ask for a code. You get a 6-character code, valid for 15 minutes, that only you can see. Read it out or show its QR at the counter, staff confirm it, and the reward is marked as used so it can't be used again.
Do reward points expire?
Points don't expire unless the shop turns expiry on, and even then it only applies to points earned after the change. Rewards that are ready stay redeemable for the period the shop sets, 90 days by default. The app shows each reward's expiry date, and shops on Growth and Pro can send a reminder before it runs out.
Can loyalty points be converted to cash?
No. Eknas points belong to the shop's loyalty card and can only be redeemed for that shop's rewards. They can't be withdrawn, sent to another person or turned into wallet money. That keeps rewards simple and stops the fraud that cash-out "earning" apps often attract.
Can I earn points when I pay by eSewa, Khalti or Fonepay?
Yes. Eknas points come from the bill amount staff record, not from the payment method, so cash, card, eSewa, Khalti, Fonepay and bank QR all earn the same. Any points your payment wallet gives you are separate and add to what you earn on Eknas.
Is Eknas the same as eSewa or Fonepay points?
No. eSewa and Fonepay points come from payments and are redeemed through Fonepoints partners. Eknas is each shop's own loyalty card: you earn points from your bill at that shop, however you pay, and redeem rewards that shop chose. You can use both side by side.
What happens to my rewards if a shop leaves Eknas?
You keep them. Under the Customer Reward Protection Policy, a shop that stops its program must give you at least 30 days to redeem the rewards you've unlocked. You get the exact final date in the app and by email, with reminders a week and a day before it.
Businesses
Which businesses can use Eknas?
Any business in Nepal that serves repeat customers: cafés, tea shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars, salons, barbers, spas, gyms, groceries, pharmacies, clothing and electronics stores, and more. If customers pay a bill at a counter and come back, a points or stamp card fits.
How do I give points to my customers?
At the counter, staff scan the customer's Eknas code, or the customer scans your counter QR. Staff can also find them by mobile number. Then staff type the bill amount, and points appear on the customer's card straight away. Every staff member has their own login, so each bill is traceable.
Can staff cheat or redeem a reward twice?
Rewards are redeemed with a single-use 6-character code that the customer requests and shows. It expires in 15 minutes and can be used once, even if two staff tap at the same time. Staff never see codes in advance, and every bill and redemption is recorded against the signed-in person.
Do I need new hardware or a POS?
No hardware is needed. The counter runs in a browser or the app on a phone, tablet or computer, and uses its camera to scan codes. Eknas sits beside your billing or POS rather than replacing it. On Pro, the Eknas team can connect your POS through the developer API.
What can I send to my members?
You can send offers, events and announcements to your members. Every plan sends new members a welcome message, and Growth and Pro add automatic birthday, almost-there, expiring-reward and win-back messages. Each plan has a wait between offers (72 hours on Starter, 24 hours on Growth and 6 hours on Pro), so members don't tire of you.
What is a QR code loyalty program?
It is a loyalty card where a QR code replaces the paper card or stamp. On Eknas, customers scan a code at the counter, or staff scan the customer's code, to record each bill. Counter codes refresh every two minutes and customer codes every minute, so screenshots can't be reused.
Are loyalty programs worth it for small businesses?
They are when the reward is reachable and the program is easy to use. Regulars return sooner when they can see progress, and the owner learns who their best customers are. Eknas shows returning customers and average bill on Growth, and at-risk regulars on Pro, so you can judge the program by your own numbers.
Pricing and billing
How much does a loyalty program cost in Nepal?
On Eknas, a loyalty program costs NPR 799 a month on Starter, NPR 1,999 a month on Growth and NPR 4,999 a month on Pro, per location, with 13% VAT included. Paying yearly or for three years costs less per month. There are no setup fees, and customers never pay anything.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 3-day free trial, so you can set up your rewards, print your counter QR poster and record real bills before you pay anything. If you don't choose a plan before the trial ends, the program stops earning and your customers' rewards stay protected.
How do I pay?
You pay in Billing by scanning the Eknas payment QR or using the account details shown, such as eSewa, Khalti, Fonepay or bank transfer, and then upload a screenshot of the payment. The Eknas team confirms it, and you receive a VAT invoice in your business name with your PAN.
What does "per location" mean?
Each branch where customers earn and redeem points is one location. One café is one location; a restaurant with three branches pays for three. Member and staff allowances are counted per location too, so a two-location Starter plan allows 1,000 members and 6 staff logins.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, from Billing. Upgrades start today, and you pay the new price minus the unused part of your current period. Downgrades and cancellations take effect when your paid period ends. If you cancel, earning stops then and customers keep at least 30 days to redeem their rewards.
What happens if I go over my member limit?
Existing members keep earning and redeeming as normal. New customers can't join your card until you upgrade or add a location, because the limit is checked at someone's first purchase. Starter allows 500 members per location, Growth 2,500 and Pro 10,000.
Privacy and security
Who can see my mobile number?
Staff at a shop where you're a member see the last four digits of your number by default. A search with the full number finds anyone on Eknas, and every lookup is recorded against the staff member. Shops never see your password, and we never sell personal data.
What personal data does Eknas keep?
Only what the service needs: your email, mobile number, date of birth, city and the purchases shops record for you. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, sign-ins use secure cookies, and everything travels over HTTPS. Your information is stored on a server in India, and we never sell it.
How do I delete my account?
Open Profile, choose to delete your account and confirm with your password, or follow the steps on our support page. Deleting erases your name, number, birthday and email, cancels open reward codes and clears your review comments. Shops keep only anonymous purchase totals for their own records.
Are the ratings on shop pages real?
Yes. Only a customer who paid at the shop can rate that visit, once, within 48 hours, so every Eknas rating is a verified visit. Pages show the average, the spread of stars and written reviews with the owner's replies. Abusive comments can be hidden by the Eknas team.
Can a shop change its rewards after I start collecting?
A shop can change its goal and rewards at any time. By default, changes apply to new rounds only, so your current round keeps the goal and rewards you started with. Points you've already earned are never removed by a change to the program, and rewards waiting for you stay yours.
The app
Do I need to download an app?
No, but it helps. Eknas works in your phone's browser, and there is a free Eknas app for Android with the same account, cards and rewards. Shops can also find you at the counter by your mobile number, so you can earn even before you open the app.
What if I forget my phone?
Staff can look you up by your full mobile number and add the bill to your card. Your points are safe in your account, not on the phone, so a new or borrowed phone shows the same cards once you sign in.
Does Eknas send SMS?
No. Eknas doesn't send SMS. Messages arrive as notifications in the app, and some, such as a used reward or a shop ending its program, also by email. You choose which kinds of messages you get in Profile, and shops are limited in how often they can send offers.
How old do I need to be to join?
You must be at least 10 years old to create a customer account, and Eknas checks this from the date of birth you give. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to you using Eknas. Business accounts are opened by someone aged 18 or over.
